abstract | Disclosed is a polyethylene-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate having improved slitting and delamination resistance with reduced width shrinkage when formed into a film. A copolymer containing a 6,6 ′-(alkylenedioxy) di-2-naphthoic acid component as a copolymer component in a range of 0.1 mol% to less than 5 mol% based on the total acid component. Polymerized polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate and a biaxially oriented film using the same. It is particularly suitable as a base film for high-density magnetic recording media.
