abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sesamin, which is a kind of main lignan compound contained in sesame, and is contained in sesame in an amount of about 0.5-1%. Sesamin is known to have many physiological activities, for example, an antioxidant action, an antihypertensive action, an anti-inflammatory action and the like are known. Also disclosed is a technique in which a composition containing sesamin and gamma-oryzanol enhances the physiological activity of sesamin. An object of the present invention is to provide a food composition that significantly increases the physiological activity of sesamin. A food composition comprising sesamin and proanthocyanidins.
