abstract A power supply system and a charging method that do not require step-down when discharging without reducing the reliability of the power supply system. SOLUTION: A rectifier 1, an assembled battery 4 composed of nickel-metal hydride storage battery cells connected in parallel, a charger 3, a charge control means 9, and a battery voltage monitoring means for monitoring the voltage of each assembled battery 4. 4 and an assembled battery connection switch 5 inserted in the discharge circuit of each assembled battery 4, and the charge control means 9 is configured to change the output voltage of the rectifier 1 and the voltage of the assembled battery 4.
