abstract Disclosed is a gravity-precipitation combined filtration type solid-liquid separation device and a solid-liquid separation method that achieve a longer filter life. To provide a method for producing ashless coal that can produce ashless coal from which ash is sufficiently removed at high efficiency and at low cost. A sedimentation tank 1 that contains slurry and sediments solids; a supernatant liquid discharge pipe that has an opening 20 through which a supernatant liquid in the sedimentation tank flows, and that discharges the introduced supernatant liquid to the outside of the sedimentation tank. 2; a filter 10 installed at an opening of the supernatant liquid discharge pipe and capturing solid content in the supernatant liquid, the solid content capturing surface facing the slurry liquid surface and inclined with respect to the horizontal plane. A solid-liquid separation device 50 comprising: a filter 10 disposed; and a solid content receiving member 3 disposed at a lower end of the filter.
