abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization, a method for producing the same, and a catalyst capable of obtaining a polymer with a small amount of fine powder while maintaining a high degree of stereoregularity and yield of the polymer. A magnesium compound (a), a tetravalent titanium halogen compound (b), and an electron donating compound (c) other than alcohol and ether are contacted to form a solid product, and then the solid product is subjected to alcohol. A solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization, which is obtained by bringing steam or ether vapor into contact with water vapor, and further bringing the tetravalent titanium halogen compound (b) into contact with the solid product after the vapor contact; and A catalyst for olefin polymerization formed from the solid catalyst component, an organoaluminum compound, and an organosilicon compound.
