[PROBLEMS] To diagnose and treat renal diseases including nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, diabetes, lupus, hypertension, acute tubular necrosis, ureteral obstructive disease, renal cancer, and other diseases and syndromes, etc. The present invention relates to novel compositions, systems, and methods for analyzing biological samples. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention involves the identification of specific genes that are expressed only in cells of the ureter of a particular clinical or scientific subject, such as podocytes and proximal tubule cells. .
