abstract | A method for producing methyl 2-bromo-3- {4- [2- (5-ethyl-2-pyridyl) ethoxy] phenyl} propionate with high efficiency and high purity is provided. 4- [2- (5-Ethyl-2-pyridyl) ethoxy] aniline is reacted with nitrite in the presence of hydrobromic acid to form a diazonium salt, and the solution is added in the presence of a copper catalyst. This is a method in which methyl 2-bromo-3- {4- [2- (5-ethyl-2-pyridyl) ethoxy] phenyl} propionate is obtained by dripping and reacting with a methyl acrylate solution and containing a very small amount of specific impurities. .
