abstract | Disclosed is a liquid ejecting head and a liquid ejecting apparatus that reduce damage to the diaphragm due to the ingress of moisture into the interface of each layer of a diaphragm composed of a plurality of layers, and have high reliability. A groove is formed so as to surround a piezoelectric element until it reaches an interface between an elastic film and an insulator film. Since the insulating protective film 100 is formed in the groove 500, the insulating protective film 100 is formed so as to block the interface between the elastic film 50 and the insulator film 55. Therefore, moisture that flows from the outside of the groove 500 toward the piezoelectric element 300 through the interface between the elastic film 50 and the insulator film 55 can be blocked by the insulating protective film 100, and the elastic film 50 and the insulator film 55 in the portion where the piezoelectric element 300 is formed. Therefore, the breakage of the elastic film 50 and the insulator film 55 as the vibration plate due to moisture permeation into the interface can be reduced, and a highly reliable ink jet recording head 1 and ink jet recording apparatus can be obtained.
