The present invention provides means and methods for regulating phosphate metabolism that are particularly effective in the treatment of bone minerals and kidney diseases. A novel phosphatonin polypeptide derived from human and a polynucleotide encoding phosphatonin are obtained, and further, a vector, a host cell, an antibody, and a gene recombination for producing this polypeptide or polynucleotide Method. It can be used to diagnose and treat bone minerals and kidney diseases. Furthermore, it is also used in screening methods for identifying phosphatonin binding partners. [Selection] Figure 14 |
