titleOfInvention Container for molten metal, use of the container and method for determining the interface layer
abstract Disclosed is a container for molten metal in which the temperature of the melt in the container can be measured as accurately as possible over a longer period of time, and a method for determining the interface layer. A container for molten metal having a temperature measuring device disposed in an opening of a container wall. The temperature measuring device has a protective sheath 2, which protrudes into the container and is closed at its end located in the container. The temperature measuring member is disposed in the opening of the protective sheath 2. The protective sheath 2 is made of a refractory metal oxide and graphite, and the closed end is separated from the container wall by at least 50 mm. In order to determine the interfacial layer between the two materials placed above and below in the vessel, in particular between the slag layer and the underlying molten steel, a sensor 7 for identifying the material change is placed in the material below. The measurement signal of the sensor 7 is measured during the casting or outflow of material from the container, and the change in signal is established when the sensor 7 contacts the interface layer between the materials.
