abstract In a polarizing plate formed by bonding a stretched cycloolefin resin film to a polarizing film made of polyvinyl alcohol resin via an adhesive layer, a cycloolefin resin film in the vicinity of an adhesive interface with the polarizing film is provided. A polarizing plate of the present invention is formed by forming an adhesive layer containing a polyvinyl alcohol compound and a water-soluble epoxy compound on at least one surface of a polarizing film made of a polyvinyl alcohol resin, and the adhesive layer. A stretched film made of a cycloolefin resin obtained by addition copolymerization of a compound having a norbornene skeleton or a tetracyclododecene skeleton and an olefin is laminated thereon.
