【Task】 Indigo leaves contain useful components such as tryptanthrin, which has been confirmed to have antibacterial activity against fungi of the genus Malassezia. These components are extracted with an organic solvent such as dichloromethane, but require a long time of 24 hours or more at room temperature. Shortening the extraction time is a major issue. [Solution] It has been found that when microwaves are applied to the extraction process of useful components from indigo leaves, the extraction rate is remarkably increased, and extraction components such as tryptanthrin can be extracted within 30 minutes and in fresh leaves within 5 minutes.
