abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear film provided with a reinforcing film made of a metal material selected from metals, metalloids and alloys and oxides and composites thereof suitable for high-density recording, and the magnetic layer is a ferromagnetic metal thin film. To provide a support for a magnetic recording medium in which generation of an error rate is suppressed even when a tape is manufactured. SOLUTION: On a surface B on the polyester layer B side of a laminated polyester film having a constitution of at least two layers of a polyester layer A and a polyester layer B, a metal, a semimetal and an alloy, and oxides and composites thereof are selected. A support for a magnetic recording medium having a thickness of 2 to 6 μm formed by forming a reinforcing film β made of at least one metal material, wherein the content of the cyclic trimer of the polyester layer B is 0.7. The support for a magnetic recording medium has a surface roughness Ra of 1 to 5 nm on the polyester layer A side on which the magnetic layer is provided. [Selection figure] None |
