abstract | The present invention provides a method that does not use chromium and suppresses the occurrence of red rust on an end face or a damaged surface of a coated steel sheet obtained by coating a galvanized steel sheet. A non-chromate coating composition for inhibiting red rust of a coated steel sheet based on a zinc-containing plated steel sheet, which contains a component that promotes sacrificial corrosion protection of zinc. Components that promote the sacrificial corrosion protection of zinc include electrolyte salts, metal powders that are more noble than iron, and zinc powders. Further, in a coated steel sheet in which a top coat and an undercoat paint film are formed on the front and back surfaces of the zinc-containing plated steel sheet, a coating composition is used to form at least one of the paint films.
