A nucleic acid construct comprising a targeting moiety (TM), a nucleic acid (NA), and a payload. The present invention provides a targeting construct that includes a targeting moiety, a nucleic acid and a payload. The payload can be a detectable label or therapeutic agent. The nucleic acid can be an antisense molecule that is complementary to the RNA present in the target cell. This targeting construct can be used to introduce the payload into target cells in vivo or in vitro. Thus, the present invention can be used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. A targeting oligonucleotide construct comprising a targeting moiety that is localized at a site in the organism; a nucleic acid complementary to the nucleic acid of interest; and a detectable label.
