A transformant into which the reporter plasmid having TGF-β signal responsiveness is introduced. A method for determining a control function of a test substance for a TGF-β signal response, wherein TGF-β and a test substance are allowed to act on the transformant, the expression level of a reporter gene is examined, and the result is used as an index.
