abstract An object of the present invention is to add an oxidizer-based bactericidal algicide and its stabilizer to a target water system, and to effectively use the stabilizer in the bactericidal algae treatment to reduce the amount used. Provided is a sterilizing algaecide method capable of reducing nitrogen content and COD content derived from the stabilizer. A method of adding an oxidizer-based bactericidal algicide and its stabilizer to a target water system for bactericidal algae so that the total residual chlorine concentration in the water system is within a predetermined range. The addition amount of the oxidizer-based bactericidal algicide is controlled, and the addition amount of the stabilizer is controlled so that the free residual chlorine concentration is within a predetermined range.
