A novel solvent composition useful in a method for producing an optical recording medium is provided. All based on the weight of the solution, 0.1 to 20% by weight of a dye having a solid-phase absorption band maximum in the spectral region of 300 to 800 nm, formula (I) (Wherein R 1 to R 8 are H, CH 3 , or C 2 H 5 , provided that the total number of carbon atoms in R 1 to R 8 is 0, 1, or 2) A novel liquid composition comprising from 0.5 to 99.9% by weight of a compound, and optionally from 0 to 99.4% by weight of one or more other ingredients.
