abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using a cleaning blade having an obtuse tip angle in contact with a member to be cleaned and capable of stably cleaning the member to be cleaned over time. A printer, which is an image forming apparatus, includes a photosensitive member 4 and a cleaning device 17 that cleans the surface of the photosensitive member 4 by bringing a cleaning blade 47 having an obtuse tip angle into contact therewith. Is configured to attach non-image toner to the surface of the photoconductor 4 in order to remove foreign matter sandwiched between blade contact portions where the photoconductor 4 and the cleaning blade 47 abut. Is input to the blade contact portion, and after the non-image toner is input to the blade contact portion, the surface of the photoconductor 4 is moved in the direction opposite to the surface movement direction during normal image formation.
