Provided is a metal substrate for an electrode plate which can take out a large current without hindrance while increasing capacity by increasing the amount of active material applied. A metal substrate 1 includes a strip-shaped core member 2 made of an electrolytic foil formed electrolytically by a plating process, and a current collector 3 having a thickness larger than that of the core member 2 and formed in a strip shape. The band-shaped end sides along the longitudinal direction at one end edge in the width direction of the core member 2 are combined and integrated with the current collector 3 by plating processing.
