PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal material having a large electric birefringence, that is, a low driving voltage. Further, an optically isotropic liquid crystal material that exhibits a large Kerr coefficient is provided. A liquid crystal component comprising a liquid crystal component A comprising at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a compound having difluoroalkenyl and a compound having alkenyl and a chiral agent, wherein the liquid crystal component has a ring structure.
