PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a image in a predetermined area while moving a recording means having a plurality of nozzle groups relative to the predetermined area of a recording medium, even if a registration due to a physical accuracy error slightly changes. The image density does not change greatly, and a uniform image with reduced density unevenness is formed. SOLUTION: Based on multi-valued image data corresponding to a predetermined area, a plurality of multi-valued image data corresponding to a plurality of nozzle groups is generated, and a plurality of multi-valued image data thus generated is generated. Different gradation reduction processing (for example, different error diffusion processing) is performed. Thereby, since a pixel in which dots are formed by a plurality of nozzle groups is generated, the dependency of the change in image density on the change in registration can be reduced.
