In an XY address type solid-state imaging device, the same exposure time is ensured, and a difference in dark current components and photoelectric conversion that may occur during a reading process is suppressed. The exposure shutter is simultaneously applied to all rows so as to be a global shutter. A pair of thinning reset rows is set for a readout row for obtaining a signal for eliminating the influence of the deviation of the exposure time for each row caused by readout of the signal in the row order after the exposure time has elapsed. At the end timing of the exposure time, the thinning shutter is simultaneously applied to all the thinning reset rows. Thereafter, each signal is sequentially read from all the read lines and the thinning reset line. Using the readout row signal read from the readout row and the thinning row signal read from the thinning reset row, the inter-row difference processing is performed so that the accumulation timings of the respective pixel points in the output image are the same.
