A copper (II) acetate monohydrate binuclear structure metal complex exhibiting excellent gas adsorption ability is easily and easily prepared. First, an aqueous solution of any one of a Co (II) salt, a Cu (II) salt, a Zn (II) salt or a hydrate thereof and a pyridine solution of 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid. M (p-OOC-C 6 H 4 —COO) (NC 5 H 5 ) x (H) is contained in the same container and reacted with the salt or hydrate thereof and the 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid. 2 O) y (where 3 ≦ x ≦ 4, 2 ≦ y ≦ 4) is synthesized. Next, dissolve the M (p-OOC-C 6 H 4 -COO) (NC 5 H 5) x (H 2 O) y with 1,4-diazabicyclo [2,2,2] octane in the same solvent A solution is prepared, and the two are reacted by maintaining the solution at a predetermined temperature.
