[Structure] An anhydrous magnesium carbonate having a BET specific surface area of 0.1 to 10 m 2 / g and an average particle diameter of 1 to 50 μm, and a foaming agent for aluminum and aluminum-based alloy materials. [Effect] A foaming agent for aluminum and aluminum-based alloy materials can be provided. Moreover, by applying the foaming agent of the present invention to aluminum and an aluminum-based alloy material, it is possible to provide an aluminum metal or aluminum alloy material with a balance between weight reduction and compressive strength.
