titleOfInvention | Surface plasmon sensor |
abstract | Provided is a surface plasmon sensor capable of measuring a refractive index of a detection target having absorption without being affected by light absorption with a simple configuration. A surface plasmon sensor (1) is formed on a prism (5), and a light beam (13) emitted from a light source (2) is applied to a metal film (6) in contact with a sample (14) including a detection target. In this configuration, the refractive index of the sample 14 is detected by irradiating the surface on the side opposite to the surface in contact with the sample 14. The film thickness of the metal film 6 is smaller than the film thickness d at which the minimum reflectance of the light beam 13 with respect to the metal film 6 with which the sample 14 not including the detection target is in contact is minimized.
