abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a carbon-containing titanium oxynitride capable of realizing a high visible light absorption rate and a low infrared light emissivity at a low cost. The carbon-containing titanium oxynitride of the present invention is obtained by applying a solution containing a titanium oxynitride precursor and a phenol resin to a substrate and heating the coating film. In the said solution, it is desirable that a phenol resin is contained 0.01 mass%-100 mass% with respect to a titanium oxynitride precursor, for example. The carbon-containing titanium oxynitride of the present invention is suitably used for a selective absorption film of a solar collector. [Selection] Figure 1
