A method for efficiently obtaining hyaluronic acid by accumulating hyaluronic acid at a high concentration in a culture solution. A method for producing hyaluronic acid, comprising culturing a microorganism capable of producing hyaluronic acid in the presence of live yeast. The microorganism having hyaluronic acid-producing ability is a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptococcus, and among them, Streptococcus zooepidemicus or a mutant thereof is preferable.
