abstract | A battery structure that suppresses dry-up or flooding phenomenon of a direct methanol solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell is provided. The average distance from the air electrode surface to the center of the gas exchange port is L, the air electrode region where the distance to the gas exchange port exceeds L is the region A, and the air electrode region below L is the region B. The gas permeability of the air electrode gas diffusion layer of B is made smaller than the gas permeability of the air electrode gas diffusion layer of region A. In addition, a cell performance measurement unit having the same configuration as the power generation unit, which is independent from the power generation unit, is provided adjacent to each of the regions A and B, and in addition, a heater is disposed at the air electrode portion in the region A.
