abstract The data collection system consists of an analyte detection instrument and a base station. The instrument and base station are operably connected to each other to transmit data from the instrument. The base station can communicate the transmitted data to the data receiving server, and is set at a predefined interrupt or a predefined time to reduce the distance between the instrument and the base station. This data is transmitted in response to an alarm. The data collection system is used in combination with a system interface that provides a data management system (DMS) deployed on a device such as a personal computer. The DMS starts on the computer when a connection with the instrument is detected. The DMS reproduces the screen of a specific instrument on the screen of the computer, and the user can learn the operation procedure. Changes related to instrument settings are made via the computer and the updated results are transmitted and stored in the connected instrument.
