Low toxicity long-circulating chimeras of human interferon alpha analogues and interferon tau |
abstract |
An interferon alpha (IFNα) analog protein is described that is modified by chemical attachment of at least one hydrophilic polymer moiety, such as a polyethylene glycol chain. In one embodiment, the IFNα analog protein has approximately residues 1-27 (on both ends), with one or more substitutions selected based on amino acid residues at the corresponding positions in the mature interferon tau (IFNτ) protein. One or more amino acid residues in the N-terminal region comprising (including) having a different amino acid sequence from native human IFNα interferon alpha. Also described are methods of treating viral diseases and other disorders with polymer modified IFNα analog proteins. |
