titleOfInvention | Sensors based on water relaxation |
abstract | The present invention relates to magnetic resonance based sensors and related methods. More particularly, the present invention relates to a magnetic resonance based sensor for detecting the presence of an analyte in a sample solution. The sensor comprises a magnetic nanoparticle attached to a portion to which the analyte can reversibly bind, the nanoparticle being impermeable to the nanoparticle but semi-permeable to transmit the analyte It is enclosed in the chamber provided with. Upon binding the analyte to the nanoparticles, the nanoparticles aggregate and are detected by a change in the T2 relaxation time of the sample solution in the chamber (magnetic relaxation switch). Analytes can be carbohydrates such as glucose, antibodies, amino acids, nucleic acids, oligonucleotides, therapeutic agents, peptides, proteins, and the like. The sensor may be used as an assay and can be read using MRS or MRI, such as a well plate for high-throughput analysis. |
