| abstract | Cardioversion / defibrillation that is totally subcutaneously implantable with minimal surgical entry into the patient's body and distributed as needed to deliver cardioversion / defibrillation shock and pacing therapy across the heart A SubQ ICD is disclosed that provides fibrillation sensing and stimulation electrodes. The configuration includes a hermetic housing with one or optionally two subcutaneous sensing and cardioversion / defibrillation therapy delivery leads, or two hermetic housings interconnected by power / signal cables. The housing is usually dynamically configurable to accommodate various rib structures and associated arteries of the thoracic cavity and muscle.
