Methods, apparatus and systems are provided for performing endovascular repair of atrioventricular valves and other heart valves in the heart. Atrioventricular valves, particularly mitral valve regurgitation, can be repaired by modifying a tissue structure selected from the leaflets, annulus, valve chordae and papillary muscles. These structures can be repaired using an interventional tool introduced into the chamber of the heart by suturing, stapling, applying a snare or shortening. The tissue structure can be temporarily repaired before permanent modification. For example, the opposing leaflets can be temporarily grasped and held in place before permanent attachment. In one embodiment, the structure is placed in the groove region of the annulus and the shape of the valve is modified. |
