titleOfInvention Isolation and purification of carotenoids from marigold
abstract The present invention provides a carotenoid containing a high concentration of carotenoids such as marigold petal-derived trans-lutein, trans-zeaxanthin, cis-lutein, β-carotene, and cryptoxanthin under controlled conditions that do not leave any traces of organic harmful solvents. A realistic and efficient method for isolation and purification is described. This method involves marigold petal ensilage, dehydration, solvent extraction, alkaline hydrolysis of carotenoid esters with anhydrous alcohol, crystallization / purification with a mixture of water and anhydrous alcohol, subsequent filtration, and the crystals are significantly free of moisture. Including drying until it is completely free of residual harmful solvents. These crystals are suitable for dietary supplements and supplement foods.
