abstract |
A method of making a disubstituted-2-halo-1,3-propanediol via reduction of the corresponding malonate compound is disclosed. Also disclosed are methods of making disubstituted 2-halo-1,3-dicarbamate compounds (e.g., halo derivatives of ferbamate, including fluoroferbamate) via reduction of the malonate compound followed by carbamoylation. The Reduction of the malonate compound is performed using an electrophilic hydride reagent. |
