A mask configured to be implanted in a patient's cornea is disclosed. In one embodiment, the main body of the mask has a light transmitting portion, a light shielding portion disposed around the light transmitting portion, and an outer peripheral edge surrounding the light shielding portion. This mask is designed to exist between the two corneal inner layers of the cornea. In a preferred embodiment, the mask is formed from a material that includes a highly fluorinated polymer material and an opacifier and is resistant to degradation upon exposure to ultraviolet light. In another embodiment, the mask is formed from a material that includes a polyanionic compound. In some embodiments, the mask includes one or more wound healing modulating compounds to assist in proper healing after implantation. |
