titleOfInvention Beclin protein motif that interacts with anti-apoptotic members of the BCL-2 protein family and uses thereof
abstract The present invention relates to a method for identifying a modulator of programmed cell death comprising the interaction between a Beclin protein motif and an anti-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 protein family, and detection of said interaction by fluorescence polarization. Modulators identified based on the method are administered to cancer patients to cause apoptotic and / or autophagic programmed cell death. The present invention also relates to a Beclin protein motif that can interact with an anti-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 protein family and its use to cause programmed cell death in cancer patients.
