titleOfInvention Prosthesis adapted for implantation of two-piece heart valves
abstract The heart valve assembly (10) has an annular prosthesis (14) and a valve prosthesis (14). The annular prosthesis has an annular ring (18) that expands tissue within the biological annulus and a compatible suture cuff (20) that extends radially from the annular member. The valve prosthesis has a frame (32) and a valve member. An annular ring is introduced into the biological annulus to expand tissue around the biological annulus and the suture cuff conforms to the tissue above the biological annulus. The fastener is guided through the suture cuff and attaches the annular prosthesis to the biological annulus. The annular prosthesis may have a balene element that urges the annular ring fabric outward to improve sealing against the bioannular portion. The valve prosthesis is then advanced into the sinus cavity and attached to the annular prosthesis. The stitching cuff can improve the seal between the valve prosthesis and the annular prosthesis.
