titleOfInvention | Medical device and therapeutic delivery device composed of bioabsorbable polymer manufactured at room temperature, method for manufacturing the device, and apparatus for manufacturing the device |
abstract | Selecting a first bioabsorbable polymer having a first glass transition temperature above about room temperature and selecting a second bioabsorbable polymer having a second glass transition temperature below about room temperature A manufacturing method is provided. The method also includes mixing the first and second bioabsorbable polymers to form a formulation and subjecting the formulation to pressure. The method further includes injecting the formulation into a mold in the form of a bioabsorbable device and removing the bioabsorbable device from the mold. The method may include adding a bioactive substance to the formulation. The steps of mixing the first and second bioabsorbable polymers, applying the formulation to pressure, and injecting the formulation into a mold can be performed near room temperature. The bioabsorbable device may be a stent, catheter, guidewire, balloon, filter, vena cava filter, stent graft, vascular graft, intracavitary pavement system, or implant. A medical device is provided that includes a blend of polymers including first and second bioabsorbable polymers in the form of a medical device. |
