The invention disclosed herein is of non-natural origin, including two or optionally three organic moieties of limited size “linked” by certain structurally related “linker” functional groups Relates to the genus of low molecular weight compounds. Suitable linker groups include ester, amine, ether, keto, imino, thioamide, thioether, sulfonamide, sulfonate ester, sulfone, guanidine and thiourea groups. The compound is intended for use in foods, drinks, and other edible or orally administered pharmaceuticals or pharmaceutical compositions when contacted with foodstuffs, beverages or pharmaceutical compositions, preferably at a concentration of about 100 ppm or less. Therefore, if necessary, a conventional flavoring agent such as monosodium glutamate or a known natural or artificial sweetener or mixed with it to give a savory (umami) or sweet flavor adjuster. Or it can act as a sweet flavor and as a flavored or sweet seasoning. |
