abstract Improved delivery of additive material to the cigarette is provided through the use of one or more capsules (10) containing additive material, such as a flavoring component, in the filter area (40) of the cigarette. The sealed one or more capsules release at least a portion of the additive material from the one or more capsules and expose the additive material to mainstream smoke passing through the filter before or after smoking the cigarette.
