titleOfInvention | Label-free detection of unpurified samples |
abstract | The present invention is characterized by the use of evanescent field detection to detect or evaluate non-purified and unlabeled analytes in a raw sample. Capture molecules capable of binding to the analyte can be immobilized on the detection surface of the evanescent field sensor. The interaction between the analyte in the raw sample and the immobilized capture molecules changes the refractive index of the detection surface, thereby producing a detectable signal in the reflected light from the surface. Raw samples according to the present invention include, but are not limited to, cell lysates, tissue extracts, body fluids, or biological samples. Evanescent field sensors suitable for the present invention include, but are not limited to, grating coupled waveguides. |
