Manufacturing method and current collector |
abstract |
A method of forming a current collector layer on an electrode layer of an electrochemical air separation element and a current collector. A slurry is prepared comprising electrically conductive particles having a metal oxide surface deposit on a metal or metal alloy. Metal oxide surface deposits occupy a lower weight percentage of electrically conductive particles than a metal or metal alloy. The slurry is applied to a structure that includes an electrolyte and an electrode layer. The resulting coated form is then fired to obtain a porous current collector layer that is partially sintered with the electrically conductive particles and secured to the electrode layer. The current collector has a thickness between about 5 microns and about 100 microns, and preferably has a porosity between about 10% and about 70%, between about 0.1 microns and about 20 microns. It has pores with a pore size between. |
