titleOfInvention Use of EGF to treat or prevent pathogenic infections and to promote weight gain
abstract The present invention relates to treating or preventing pathogenic infections by epidermal growth factor (EGF). EGF has the ability to inhibit colonization of pathogens in various tissues or cell types. Since pathogen colonization is essential for pathogen infection, EGF can be used as an effective prophylactic and therapeutic agent for various pathogenic infections, particularly those on mucosal surfaces. Also described is a method of increasing weight gain in an animal by administering an epidermal growth factor.
