abstract The present invention comprises a substrate (10) having a material (12, 14) capable of reacting with a gas (target gas) in the atmosphere being monitored, by which the material absorbs or emits radiation. Provide a colorimetric gas detector that changes radiation at that location (color change material). The material is placed in at least one discrete area (12, 14) of the substrate. By providing color change material in discrete regions, the amount of such material can be reduced, including different types of color change material on a common substrate, and two or more gases. It can be detected at the same time.
