| abstract |
An antibacterial fabric having a silvery antibacterial finish applied topically is provided. The finish comprises at least one silver ion-containing compound and at least one binder compound. The antibacterial fabric can be processed into a garment worn as a base layer garment that contacts the skin that helps prevent skin infections caused by rubbing against the skin. The garment can also help prevent pathogens (microorganisms) from being transferred from person to person after sharing a joint use article such as an athletic protective gear. The antibacterial fabric exhibits a long-term antibacterial effect against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and also exhibits an antibacterial effect even after repeated washing. Furthermore, a method for producing a silver-containing antibacterial fabric is also provided. |
