Provided is a method for producing and / or analyzing a spectrally labeled protein (for example, a protein that is site-specifically labeled with an NMR active isotope, a spin label, a chelating agent for a paramagnetic metal, or the like). The labeled protein is made with a translation system comprising an orthogonal aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase / tRNA pair. Also provided are methods for assigning NMR resonances (eg, methods using isotope-labeled proteins). |
