abstract A smoking article having one or more inner wrapper strips cut with recycled tobacco. One or more cut inner wrapper strips are coaxial with the tobacco column and extend between the inner surface of the outer wrapper and the tobacco column. Tobacco blends include burley tobacco, fire-cured tobacco, oriental tobacco, Maryland tobacco, raw exotic tobacco, and combinations thereof. This blend improves Burley smoke properties without increasing the level of Hoffman analytes, particularly tobacco-specific nitrosamines. A cigarette is provided that improves Burley smoke properties without increasing Hoffman analyte levels.
