abstract | The present invention is generated by radiolysis in a closed chamber containing a radioactive substance containing an organic compound and possibly water, or a radioactive substance found in the presence of an organic compound and possibly water. Regarding the method of removing combustible gas, here inside the chamber: a) a catalyst for the oxidation reaction of at least the combustible gas with oxygen contained in the chamber atmosphere and supported by an inert solid support; b) a catalyst for the oxidation reaction of at least CO to CO 2 ; possibly c) an oxygen source; and possibly d) a hygroscopic inert microporous solid support. Of a combustible gas generated by radiolysis in a closed chamber containing an organic compound and possibly a radioactive material containing water, or a radioactive material found in the presence of an organic compound and possibly water, A removal device comprising components a), b) and possibly c) and d).
